Magic is perception. But then, so is reality. Ancient philosophers posed the argument that we exist only in the perceptions of others; and, without that perception, we would wink out of existence altogether. Others postulate that shared experiences, tangible rules of the universe, and things we think of as fact, are all the result of mass hallucination, of the efforts of a group mind at work.
A magician trains his mind to manipulate perception, thus allowing him to alter reality itself. The laws of nature bend to his will. Gravity? The force that pulls things to each other, most easily and uncomfortably demonstrated when you drop a cup of coffee. It works constantly, without rest, without our even thinking about itan immutable natural law, except to the magician. Action and reaction? Toss a rubber ball at the ground, and it will bounce up. Wind a watch and it will move its hands across its numbered face, unless the magician tells it not to. Density? The law that says if you crowd enough molecules together to form a solid, then other solids will not pass through. The magician says, Thats what you think.
Warp magic is all about perception, a way of viewing reality that allows the practitioner to sidestep the troublesome rules and apply his will with abandon, demonstrating again and again that, when it comes to the real world, its all in how you see it.
