Many scientists who are intimately familiar with the notion of extrasensory perception (ESP) believe that all humans have the capacity to project and pick up thoughts at will.

According to some experts, one way to accelerate the process is to mentally spell out whatever it is you're thinking about. For example, if you want a friend to “hear” you think about, say, the color blue, you would visualize as many blue objects as you could while literally seeing the letters B-L-U-E with your mind's eye.

What follows is an experiment of this nature using a virtual deck of playing cards—extrasensory spelling (ESS), if you will. Images of cards are very easy to mentally project and receive because of the four bold symbols on them: spades, hearts, clubs, and diamonds.
