VANDALS DESTROY HOUDINI GRAVE BUST

Vandals with hammers destroyed the granite bust of Harry Houdini over his grave in Machpelah Cemetery, Glendale, Queens. The life-size memorial to the famed magician, who died 48 years ago, was inscribed “Society of American Magicians.” Ralph Stollow, superintendent of the cemetery, told the police yesterday that he had received an anonymous phone call last week warning that the Houdini grave had been “booby trapped.” He dismissed the threat as that of a crank, he said.
