HOUDINI UNDERGOES A SECOND OPERATION
Magicians Condition is Less Favorable Than BeforeSlender Chance for Recovery
DETROIT, Oct. 29 (AP)A second operation on Harry Houdini, the magician, was performed tonight in an attempt to check the paralysis of the bowels which developed after the relapse that occurred during the day. A bulletin issued by the physicians stated that the patients condition was less favorable than before the operation.
Earlier in the evening the physicians had reported Houdinis condition as low, with poisoning from streptococcus peritonitis spreading generally through his system. The crisis is expected within the next twelve to thirty-six hours. Only a slender chance for recovery is conceded.
Houdinis appendix burst three days before the operation was performed.
