HOUDINI IN NEW FEAT

He Causes an Elephant and Keeper to Vanish at the Hippodrome.

Performing at the Hippodrome, New YorkThe baffling Houdini made his first appearance as a part of the Hippodrome organization yesterday afternoon, and presented a pair of illusions of the sort with which he is identified. The first was a variant of the cabinet trick not uncommon with prestidigitators, in which, however, Houdini went his fellow conjurors several better by causing an elephant and his keeper to vanish.

The second Houdini stunt was made possible by the Hippodrome tank, as it had for its basis the nailing up of the conjurer in a box and the subsequent submerging of the box. Needless to add, Houdini emerged from the water unharmed at both performances.
