ANSOFT AND ALENIA MARCONI CO-HOST RF DESIGN COURSES IN ROME

PITTSBURGH – March 14, 2002 – Ansoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ: ANST) office in Rome, Italy, teamed up with Alenia Marconi Systems (AMS) Radar E Tecnologie in mid-January to host two courses on radio frequency (RF) circuit design.

“RF Circuit Design Fundamentals,” a two-day course conducted by Dr. Les Besser, of Besser Associates in Mountain View, California, provided circuit-level designers with the essential concepts needed to apply analytical, graphical and computer-aided techniques to analyze and optimize RF circuits.

The AMS-sponsored course, which covered linear active circuit design, focused on issues relating to stability, bandwidth and noise. Ansoft and AMS originally scheduled the classes for Jan. 15–16 at AMS’s office in Rome but had to plan another course for Jan. 17–18 due to high demand.

Loris Padella, group director of AMS Radar E Tecnologie and Operazioni Italia, said, “To get the most from today’s advanced CAE packages, young engineers need to be carefully trained. At AMS, training plays an important role in our company’s strategy. In addition to providing AMS with outstanding RF and microwave design tools, Ansoft offers exceptional training. Events like this will continue to strengthen the strategic partnership between AMS and Ansoft.”

“The events were extremely successful,” said Sondra Di Sabatino, Italian director at Ansoft. “After 70 designers registered for the first class at AMS, we had to arrange a second session in our Rome office.”

Attendees included RF designers from Motorola, Alenia Spazio, AMS, Marconi Corporation, Ericsson, Siemens, ST Microelectronics and other companies.
