HFSS
Amedeo Larussi, of Raytheon, uses HFSS™ to design and validate antennas. When presenting his methods at one of Ansoft’s HFSS Users Workshops, Larussi discussed the following elements crucial to his design:
- Electromagnetic numerical methods, including fintite element, finite difference, moment method, and other methods (i.e., mode matching, fourier, etc.)
- Circular waveguide design problem setup with higher order modes, including geometry generation, material assignment, boundary setup (higher order modes), and solution/result interpretation
- Reflector and feeds design problem, including dual polarization feed and reflector geometry generation, material and boundary assignment, solution, and large-size reflector and feed modeling with HFSS
- Radome and other dielectrics design problem, including luneberg lens’s geometry setup, material setup with variable index of refraction, and result discussion of HFSS versus other theoretical prediction
