Franklin Park magician Tom Interval will represent the borough when he performs his brand of mind-boggling sleight of hand illusion at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, Va.

Interval, 21, developed an interest in conjuring at the age of six when his mother, Dora Interval, gave him a magic kit. When he was 12 years old, he began entertaining live audiences and now performs annually at the North Hills Arts Festival.

In 1985 he was named Pittsburgh Magician of the Year by the International Brotherhood of Magicians and is a member of The Society of American Magicians and the Mystic Magicians of Beaver Valley.

He taught magic at Community College of Allegheny County at the Allegheny Campus on North Side.

Now he’s preparing to entertain thousands of people throughout spring and summer, including the Busch Gardens performance Feb. 26 to Sept. 5.

After auditioning for Busch Gardens last November, he was selected as the first magician to represent the park’s new magic shop.
