February 17, 1988

North Hills resident Tom Interval has been selected as the first magician to represent the new magic shop at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va. He will perform his brand of mind-boggling illusions at the resort from Feb. 26 through Sept. 5.

Interval, 21, developed an interest in conjuring at the age of six when his mother, Dora Interval, gave him a magic kit. At the age of 12, he began entertaining live audiences and now performs annually at the North Hills Arts Festival. He also has taught magic at Community College of Allegheny County, Allegheny campus, North Side.

In 1985 he was named Pittsburgh Magician of the Year by the International Brotherhood of Magicians. He is also a member of the Society of American Magicians and the Mystic Magicians of Beaver Valley.

Interval is now preparing to entertain thousands of people at Busch Gardens where he was selected by audition to perform during the spring and summer season.
