Interval’s magic is out of this galaxy

Talk about a magic trick that’s out of this galaxy.

Okay, get this. A magician shows you a miniature candy bar, obviously a leftover from Halloween. He places it in the middle of his right palm. In a flash, the thing literally jumps straight up into his waiting left hand.

No strings, no magnets, no smoke. Just pure magic. And the candy bar isn’t even his.

“Dude, that couldn’t have happened,” one onlooker said. “You’re possessed, man.”

This is just one of the impossible sleight-of-hand tricks that Tom Interval performed at Galaxy, a huge musical-art event held at the multi-floor Club Laga, Attic and Upstage music clubs in Oakland on Sunday.

Galaxy, a Pittsburgh City Paper-organized event benefiting Bridge to Independence, featured more than 30 bands and DJs, entertainers, artists and vendors selling a variety of goods.

“Although most people were there for the music, everyone who watched my magic seemed to really enjoy it,” said Interval.
